A manifesto is a statement of intention, ideals or purpose. It can be a bold and sometimes rebellious call to action and often manifestos are politically fueled. Writing a manifesto can be a great catalyst to spark change, to help you set clear intentions and align your principles with your actions. We all need inspiration and motivation. If you have ever made a vision board you know how powerful creating a symbol of your intentions can be. Writing a manifesto is a powerful reminder of your purpose, passion and can be a beautiful expression of your authentic self.
5 Steps to Write an Inspiring Manifesto
Discover Your Values
Grab a pen and paper and write down the values that matter most to you. Integrity? Kindness? Generosity? What are the qualities you most admire in others and hold as a standard for yourself? Start with five and build from there.
Connect with Your Passion
What lights you up? What brings you joy? Maybe it has been a while since you really connected to what you love to do. Dream big. Anything is possible.
There are many great manifestos out there— from inspirational speeches, like Martin Luther King’s, I Have a Dream to companies like Apple who create manifestos. Read a few and get inspired. Actually, Frank Lloyd Wright wrote an awesome manifesto as a guide for his students. Read it here.
Put it to Paper
Write a laundry list of statements that reflect what you discovered about your passion, values and intentions. Make them concise and actionable. For example, “Live in the Moment”, “Cooperation over Competition” or “Trust What Feels Right.” Refine your list. Keep the statements that really resonate with you.
Your manifesto is a declaration of your core values and clear intentions. Hang it somewhere you can see it and read it regularly for inspiration and as a reminder of how amazing you are!
