I’m a long-time yoga student and a seasoned yoga teacher, meditation guide and teacher trainer. My teaching style is dynamic and blends real-life inspiration, humor and universally accessible breath, movement and mindfulness practices. My aim is to create a container of self-discovery where students feel empowered to explore their bodies in a way that best suites them so they can experience less stress, more ease and access greater joy.
My Yoga Story
I began practicing yoga in 1998 as a way to stay balanced and focused during graduate school. Like many, I was initially drawn to yoga for the physical benefits, but quickly realized the practice transcended the physical. Affecting me deeply emotionally and spiritually, my mat felt like the most welcoming and comfortable place in the world.
In 2002 an injury and a health crisis brought me to Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science. It was natural for the two to merge and since that time both Ayurveda and Yoga have been a daily practice. In 2010, I was drawn deeply to sharing my passions for yoga and Ayurveda and over the course of the next two years I took two 200hr teacher trainings, completed an Ayurveda Wellness Counselor program and completed my 500hr training in 2015.
My intention as a teacher is to inspire students through the practice of yoga and the wisdom of Ayurveda to connect with their own personal power, healing abilities and expansive potential. I teach with a playful spirit and encourage students to find balance among the stillness, joyful exploration and challenge of meeting their edge. Each class is structured as a journey with breath-work and asana focused around a central theme integrating yoga philosophy within the physical practice.
I am honored to be both a student and teacher on this path and grateful for the many teachers in my life. It is through their infinite inspiration and guidance that I discovered life becomes your practice when you breathe with intention, move with grace and seek divine love in all that is.
